Richard's Notes

The custom Architectural Design Double Glass and Wood Doors open to a cozy Anteroom with Closet, Lit Display Alcove, Ceramic Tile Floor with Radiant Heating and a 2-Piece Powder Room that seems to be lift straight out from the pages of Architectural Digest.  It has a certain Zen like qualities with the stone bowl basin and just the right combination of wood and chrome.  In fact, the whole philosophy is repeated throughout the house.  It was only later that I found out that was indeed based on the Storeys, powerfully creative forces themselves, accumulative interpretations of the magazines that they have collected throughout the years.  An interesting note is that the colour motive is based on a MOMA print that hangs on the Walls next to the Kitchen.  Sparing no expenses, only the best materials are used, such as the Binns Kitchen, Cherrywood Cabinets, and so on.

I digressed.  The Anteroom opens immediately to the Great Room with vaulted ceilings and a majestic floor-to-ceiling fireplace with a colourful interchangeable thematic centre piece.  This can easily be reinterpreted by your own stain glass design for that certain personal touch.  The Master Ensuite Sanctum Sanctorum (MESS) is behind the massive Cherrywood Entertainment Centre on the left.  I think  the MESS is a perfect escape from the daily grind with a step up 17 Jets Whirlpool Bath overlooking the gardens - separated from the bedroom by a 3-sided Fireplace Peninsula, huge his/hers walk-in closets with windows, dressing area, water closet, his/hers sinks with Opera Lights and Corrian Counters in an enclosed cove, HUGE separate Glass Blocks Shower Room (7' 6¼" x 7' 10½") that could easily fit 10, laundry room behind 2 Mirrors sliding doors.  The outer walls of the bedroom is actually surrounding glass panels with a doored Egress to the Outdoor Stone Spa with Cascading Waterfall and Hot Tub.  Of course, this is only steps from the Outdoor Bar.

I digressed again.  There is a preponderance of halogen lights (33 in the Great Room alone) in the ceilings throughout the house which gives it a celestial feel (the refrain "Thousand Points of Light" kept ringing through my mind during my visit.)  The HUGE Screened Porch opens from the Dining Room - perfect for the dinner guests; who can also later saunter out to the grounds.

I give it a "Two Thumbs Up" as the PERFECT Cocoon for most days AND the PERFECT Entertainer for the occasional gregarious moods.  (Scroll down to download the Magazine Feature.)  Oh yes, the right side of the house on the Second Level beyond the Billiard Room is an almost  totally self-contained (kitchenette only) 2 Bedroom Apartment with a separate walk-out through the side door next to the Garage.

I don't know if it's the cross swords on the fireplace, the stone works or the lay of the grounds and ponds but it definitely conjures a picture of what I imagine Camelot should be.
